Excellent Opportunity for Directional Drilling Specialist- based in Middle-East Oil and Gas project. Keep abreast of project concept, objectives, necessities and requirements. Actively contribute and participate at various stages of well design (Conceptual, Primary and Detailed) with consultants.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide timely, specific, and meaningful technical feedback, comments and recommendations for optimizing and programs improvement
• Review, Challenge and verify proposed well designs (Primary and Contingency) and detailed well programs Make economic and operational recommendations that will have a positive financial impact to the well programs
• Guide the development of well designs and well programs
• Ensure well design fundamental procedures and standards have been followed, considered and implemented thoroughly
• Ensure proposed well designs are optimized and cost effective
• Ensure proposed well designs meet predefined project objectives
• Ensure full integration of technical and logistical components
• Advise on best practices and solutions to overcome difficulties and problems during well operation
• Keep abreast of technical information relative to well design and operations
• Recommend and implement changes in procedures
• Ensure enough well barriers are in place and well integrity and well safety are maintained at all time
• Apply advanced technical knowledge and experiences to improve Casing seat selection, Casing design, Drilling Fluids, Cementing, Drill string design
• Work as an active team member collaborating with others in a dynamic organization
• Take active role in risk assessment

• Ability to review performance and make recommendations to engineering and management on the adoption of new equipment or techniques to improve operations
• Establish and promote safety and environmental performance expectations

Qualification
University degree in engineering preferably Drilling, Petroleum, Mechanic disciplines

Experience

• 30 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry
• 20 years of experience in similar position

Skills

• In-depth and wide knowledge of Well design Process, Principles, Regulations, Procedures and Standards especially in Exploration and Appraisal HPHT sour gas wells
• Significant experience and exposure to Well Design practices with some of well-known challenges such as unconsolidated formations, narrow pore pressure-fracture gradient window, complete and uncontrollable losses, well bore instability, salt water flowing, over pressurized zones, highly fractured reservoir with presence of high concentration of H2S and CO2 in reservoir fluids etc
• Thoroughly conversant with and adept in Well Design, Planning and Engineering Software and Applications (Halliburton Landmark Modules Casing Seat, Stress Check, Compass, Well Cat, Well Plan, Well Cost)
• In depth knowledge of Material Selection
• Strong drilling hazard identification and mitigation capabilities
• Significant experience and exposure to HPHT sour gas well design
• Strong drilling operations background and conversant with various well activities especially in highly fractured carbonate reservoirs and HPHT sour gas wells
• Preferably former and extensive exposure to Persian Gulf HPHT sour gas wells preferably in Khuff carbonate Reservoir

• Advanced technical and interpersonal skills
• Self-starter with little guidance. An Individual who aggressively pursue continuous improvement

• In possess of Valid IWCF Level 4 Drilling Well Control (Surface BOP Stack), BOSIET and Medical Fitness certificates
